Crowns

For patients who have damaged or weak teeth, dental crowns can be a fantastic option. Dental crowns commonly referred to as dental caps, are designed to restore the function and cosmetics of one’s smile and significantly increase the longevity of the teeth. Here at the Heritage Dental Centre, we have over 30 years of experience in performing this procedure. Crowning a tooth is a procedure where the entire visible aspect of a tooth is encased. It sets the dental cap as the tooth’s new outer surface. By contrast, composite fillings/inlays/onlays are restorations that only cover or fill in a portion of a tooth. Dental caps cement into place to fully cover the part of the tooth that is above the gum.

Dental caps are used to rebuild broken or decayed teeth, strengthen teeth, and as a means by which to enhance the cosmetic appearance of teeth. Crowns can be made out of porcelain/ceramic, gold alloy, or a combination of both.
